How to Get Involved: Be a Volunteer
1. If you are a quilter: You can use your “stash” of child-friendly fabric to create quilts utilizing one of your favorite patterns and donate them to us for distribution to children in crisis within Tulsa and the surrounding communities. We also have “kits” available at the Quilt Sampler (61st and Sheridan) for you to complete at home.
2. If you are in...
terested in community involvement: Contact us at (918) 832-9012 to learn more about our volunteer quilting program and the areas in which we need assistance. Talk with your church, sororities, co-workers, groups and friends to see if they are interested in hosting a community outreach program for enlisting volunteers to assist in cutting fabric, quilt kit preparation and/or quilt making.
3. If you are someone with a stash of child friendly fabrics: Is there fabric taking up valuable space in your closet that you intended to use in a quilt or other craft project? Consider donating the fabric to us for making into quilts for the children we serve. You can even take a tax deduction for this! Call us at (918) 832-9012 and we’ll arrange a pickup or delivery site. Fabric has to be cotton (no blends) . . . not clothing or drapery weight fabric.
4. If you don’t sew, but still want to help: ADOPT A QUILT. A financial donation of any sort will help fund the purchase of fabric and quilt batting for making quilts. The purchase of gift cards from Jo-Ann’s or Hancock Fabrics assist us in the purchase of rotary blades, threads, rulers, etc.
5. Spread the word: You may think it a small gesture but spreading the word that Tulsa Quilts for Kids is in need of fabric, funding and quilters will make all the difference in the world to us.
